History
Gümüşlük has a deep historical background and is built on the remains of ancient Myndos. The earliest settlements in the area go back to the Lelegians, and later the city of Myndos developed here during the Carian and Persian periods. The region passed through the rule of Alexander the Great, the Romans, Byzantines, the Anatolian beyliks and the Ottoman Empire. Today, traces of this long cultural history can still be felt around the coast and nearby ancient remains.

How to Get There

It can be reached by private car through the Bodrum–Turgutreis route, by minibus from Bodrum Otogar, or via Milas-Bodrum Airport connection through Bodrum center. Access is straightforward during the season, and local transport is frequent in summer.
