Located about 25 km from Marmaris, Turgut Waterfall is a hidden natural gem offering a refreshing break from the coastal heat. Surrounded by forests and small rock pools, it provides a perfect setting for nature lovers and day trips.
Turgut village has a long history shaped by traditional life and ancient settlements in the region. Located on the Bozburun Peninsula, the area has been inhabited since antiquity and still preserves traces of ancient civilizations. Within the borders of Turgut, remains believed to belong to the ancient city of Hygassos can be seen. These include fragments of walls and structures near the coastline, as well as a sacred area thought to be part of an ancient sanctuary. Along the route leading from the village center to the waterfall, there are also lesser-known archaeological remains. One of these is believed to be a monument tomb dating back to the 3rd–4th century BC, associated with a warrior named Diagoras. Today, Turgut continues to reflect a traditional lifestyle, with local activities such as beekeeping, farming and handicrafts still playing an important role in the village culture. Turgut Waterfall is a small but charming natural formation, with water flowing from a height of around 4 meters into a series of natural pools. These small basins create a unique landscape where visitors can relax, explore and enjoy the natural surroundings. The area is covered with greenery and offers a peaceful atmosphere away from crowded beaches.
