The history of Turunç dates back to ancient times. The region has been influenced by several civilizations including the Carians, Persians, Romans, Byzantines and the Ottoman Empire. Nearby Amos Ancient City, located on Asarcık Hill near Kumlubük, is one of the most important archaeological sites in the area and dates back to the Hellenistic period.
